8. The Filming Process

Filming a movie is usually a long and arduous process that takes place over many months with everything shot out of order. However, the cast of this movie have discussed the method of filming at length in interviews-revealing that Hughes had them rehearse for days in advance before filming, and then shooting the whole thing in order over a couple of days. The final shot of Judd walking across the football field was the last one that was filmed that day, hence the low light. It was later described as setting ““a high watermark in their careers.”
