Catniss Everdeen is the centre of the whole Hunger Games trilogy-a strong, brave, intelligent girl who knows how to fight and hunt. Finding the right girl to play her proved tricky, as she had to be able to convincingly play a teenager with knowledge far beyond her years-while the role went to Jennifer Lawrence in the end, a number of other up-and-coming actresses were considered, including Emma Roberts, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin, and Kaya Scodelario.
