9. Prawns
I think the really beauty in District 9’s “prawns” (a nickname for the aliens of the movie, and a word that sounds brilliant in the native South African accent) is making these-huge, armoured, dangerous looking creatures-seem at most, pretty pathetic. But the threat is always there-and, armed with their technology and faced with social unrest, you’re never quite sure exactly what they’ll pull next. Intimidating and full of interesting design quirks.
