Hey, remember that time a Disney Channel movie won a frickin’ Emmy? Well, it was with this movie that they pulled if off, following the story of a white South African girl who spends some time with a black American family. Ham-fisted? Well, yes, but then Disney movies never really were known for their subtlety. The message behind this is lovely, and the two female leads have an authentic chemistry that makes their friendship seem properly believable. Also: AN EMMY.
