15. Bad Lieutenant
This film has almost legendary status as deeply and probably deliberately disturbing. Harvey Keitel stars as the titular cop, defining and pushing the boundaries of the word “corrupt” for generations to come. Featuring explicit and stomach-turning drug use, any number of scenes with sexual violence, and enough aggression to fill out twelve Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequels, the really disturbing thing here is Keitel’s performance-unforgiving and unforgiven in equal measure, and pretty much doomed from the word go.
