3. The Notebook
Based on the Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name, this movie is the last word in teary-eyed romanticism. Starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel Macadams as they embark on a life-changing relationship that will prove difficult for both of them, it predictably ends in one of the most iconic tragedies in cinema history. If it helps, bear in mind that the two leads apparently loathed each other when they were on set filming. What, I’ve ruined the movie for you? Ah well, one less box of Kleenex for you this month.
