6. The Sandlot
This really is quite a tricky blighter- after all, what could be sad about a bunch of plucky youngsters living the slightly rapscallion-y American dream in a small-town baseball team-with a big, lovable dog to boot? Well, The Sandlot will catch you off guard with it’s sad ending-an understated look at how friendships we once valued above everything can slip away as the years pass by and we drift apart (much like the real cast did, apparently). Dammit, and I thought this was a feel-good movie!
