9. The House of Horror
In the original script, Chris Columbus has planned to have a dream sequence wherein parts of the house would chase and torment Kevin as he tried to flee. In it, the nutcrackers would come after him and the basement furnace would chase him up the stairs. Written off as too expensive, the scene was reduced to a static shot of the furnace-which was created using two crewmembers with flashlights and a fishing line. Would have loved to see that dream sequence though!
