If you thought that films like Sharknado and Rubber prove that any crazy idea can be turned into a film then you’re wrong. Here are ten films that were just too crazy to get made. Some that would have been amazing others that were just too scary to think about. You have been warned.

1. Revenge of the Jedi

Before Return of the Jedi could make or break your childhood with the Ewok’s, George Lucas’ Star Wars closer was titled Revenge of the Jedi. Before settling on Richard Marquand, Lucas approached David Lynch to direct. Lynch, who at that point was riding high after two disturbing masterpieces: Eraserhead and The Elephant Man, doesn’t strike you as the man to make a family friendly science fiction film. Lynch, luckily enough agreed: “I went to meet George Lucas, who had offered me the third Star Wars to direct, and I’ve never even really liked science fiction. I like elements of it, but it needs to be combined with other genres. And, obviously, Star Wars was totally George’s thing.” An insane bullet dodged for everyone involved.
