8. The Great Escape
A very classic action movie, this is the perfect kick-back-and-go-brainless affair because you’ve probably seen most of it repeated or parodied somewhere else anyway. That’s not to say there’s not a lot going for Steve McQueen’s World War 2 epic-least of all that epic motorcycle escape towards the end- as it’s earned classic status with fair reason. One of them is the amazing score, and another is getting to see McQueen doing what he did best: being gruff all over exciting, entertaining, and beautifully made movies.
