6. Hugo
While not strictly a Christmas movie, Hugo deserves it’s place on this list purely for it’s sense of wonder and beautiful world of distinctly Christmassy magic. Basically acting as Scorsece’s salute to cinema, it’s a lush and lavish film that sustains itself on jaw-dropping visuals and some glorious central performances (Asa Butterfield as Hugo is particularly wonderful). Not to be missed, it’ll leave you misty-eyed over the wonder of cinema.
