9. Superbad
It launched the careers of ultimate movie nerds Christopher Mintz-Plass and Michael Cera (as well as cementing Emma Stone as the girl of everyone’s high school dreams), but this Seth Rogen/Bill Maher penned comedy is far more than gross-out teenage slapstick. It’s actually pretty clever, marking a step forward into quick-fire verbal comedy for the world of high-school movies-and for even more of a focus on the nerds getting the girl (or, in this case, the gun).
