3. The Exorcism of Emily Rose
This movie is driven by two things-one is the flashbacks to the titular exorcism that led to the death of Emily, the other is the court case that surrounds her supposed murder. The case is drawn from the real-life story of a German girl who went through a similar experience-and, even though numerous facts were changed for the big-screen adaptation, the core idea of the prosecution of a priest for performing an exorcism remained in place.
