We end the list with the man who started it all those years ago with Jaws: the first proper American blockbuster. That man is Steven Spielberg who, over a 30 plus year career, has been a beacon of box office consistency. Combined his films have made a staggering $9 billion worldwide. The skill that Spielberg has is that his films are popular even when they aren’t about killer sharks, aliens, or dinosaurs. His latest film Lincoln, despite being a talky period piece made nearly $300 million at the box office.
