12. Million Dollar Baby
Hey, remember this movie? When Hilary Swank was trying to be taken seriously as an actress and Clint Eastwood wanted to prove to everybody that he wasn’t just a cowboy with a major squint? Well, turns out it was kind of excellent-following the story of a young, upstart female boxer who trains under the tutelage of a reluctant coach-until inevitable tragedy strikes. A high-quality sob story, it raises some interesting questions while still focusing on the powerful story at it’s heart.
